Choosing a Kawarau bungy experience
A Kawarau bungy jump takes place from the historic suspension bridge, 43 m above the river. Choose the jump on its own if that is the activity you came for, or the bungy-and-swing combination if you want both experiences at the same site. The separate swing option suits a different preference: it is a swing ride, rather than a bungy jump.
The single-jump package includes photos, video and free transport from central Queenstown. The combination includes bungy and swing, photos, video and central Queenstown transport. Meeting arrangements depend on whether you select transport or self-arrival. Place the whole visit in your schedule, rather than reading a product duration as the time spent jumping.

Age, weight and health requirements
Bungy participation starts at age 10. Anyone under 15 needs an adult signature at check-in. A minimum weight of 35 kg applies. Solo and tandem arrangements have different conditions, and high river levels can change eligibility. Have the activity team assess the intended arrangement rather than assuming that two people who qualify individually can jump together.
Pregnancy and photosensitive epilepsy exclude participation in bungy, swing and zipline activities here. Osteoporosis, scoliosis or a recent concussion require a medical certificate. Tell the team about blood-pressure or heart problems, epilepsy, severe short-sightedness, bone injuries, neurological conditions, diabetes, asthma and recent muscle injuries. An online description cannot provide individual medical clearance.
Water contact depends on river level and is not guaranteed. Make the jump itself the reason for choosing the experience, rather than relying on a particular depth of water contact. River conditions also matter for participation, so a photograph of another jumper is not a description of what every participant will do.
Solo, tandem and the swing alternative
Solo and tandem bungy have their own weight and pairing rules. A tandem booking concerns the jumping arrangement, while the package choice concerns which activities and extras you buy. Keep those decisions separate when comparing the single jump with the bungy-and-swing combination.
The separate swing can be taken solo, tandem or as a triple. Its minimum age is eight, and under-15s require adult consent. The package includes photos, video and central Queenstown transport. The swing follows a different motion from bungy and should be chosen as that activity, not described as a shorter version of the same jump. It takes place at the Kawarau site, not at a neighbouring river.
Self-arrival, bus and total time
The site gives an overall allowance of 1.5 hours for self-arrival and 2.5 hours with the activity bus. These are planning allowances for the visit, not the duration of a jump or the one-way drive. The bus departure is at the corner of Shotover and Camp Streets, with check-in 30 minutes beforehand. Select the transport arrangement that matches your booking.
For driving, the site lists Queenstown to the bridge centre as 23 km and around 25 minutes, while Cromwell to the centre is 27 km and around 30 minutes. These are separate road estimates. They are not an airport-to-bridge journey time. The arrival guide explains the difference between the airport, lake outlet and bridge destinations.
Spectator area and bridge history
The spectator area and parking are free, without a reservation for that visitor access. This makes watching a practical choice for companions. It does not promise unrestricted access to all historic bridge sections. Read the bridge history and visiting guide if the structure, rather than jumping, is the main reason for your stop.
The centre opens from 08:30 to 17:00 between October and April, and 09:00 to 16:30 from May to September. The last activities are 30 minutes before closing, and the centre is closed on 25 December. Opening hours describe the site day; a particular activity slot still depends on availability.
Prices in their original currencies
The direct activity-page prices recorded on 4 November 2026 start at 320 NZD for adults and 280 NZD for children for bungy. These are starting prices from the undated site tariff, not a currency conversion or a permanent annual rate. The bookable offers on this guide use USD and their own package inclusions. Compare the activity and transport included before choosing between prices.
The single-jump and combined packages both contain media, while the combination adds the separate swing. A cheaper-looking activity with different inclusions is a different comparison. Decide first whether you want one activity or both, then compare the corresponding total package.
Zipline at the same centre
If your party prefers a cable ride, the Kawarau zipline has different age and weight rules. It is a separate booking choice, rather than an included alternative to jumping. For a broader day with different activities or a wine outing, return to the tour comparison.
Bridge activity questions
Will the jump touch the water?
Water contact depends on river conditions and is not guaranteed. The jump is from a height of 43 m; the activity team determines the suitable setup for the conditions and participant.
Can a child jump?
The minimum age for bungy is 10, with an adult signature required for under-15s at check-in. Weight and health conditions also apply; age alone does not establish eligibility.
Can I watch instead?
The spectator area and parking are free. Plan your visit within the seasonal opening hours, allowing for the 25 December closure. Watching is separate from booking an activity.
